Ruth is the main character of the Old Testament book of the same name. Ruth, the widow, returned with her mother-in-law Noemi to their home in Bethlehem and she married her relative Boaz there. Through her son Obed, David's grandfather, Ruth became an ancestor of David and Jesus.
