There are two large groups in the cat family: The small cats, which include our domestic cats and big cats such as lions and tigers.
Cats were used as a motif in art from early on. Especially in Ancient Egypt the cat played a decisive role in representation. Thus, many images and statues of cats can be found in Egyptian monuments and burial chambers.
